FAQ
Here are some of the questions we are asked most often, with clear answers to help you understand the process.
No. We work on a no-win, no-fee basis, so we will never ask you for money upfront. We only get paid on completion of a successful claim, and that comes from a share of the compensation paid by the developer.
Right to Light is a legal right to receive reasonable natural light through windows or openings in a building. Where that light has been enjoyed uninterrupted for more than 20 years, a Right to Light may arise.
When a developer submits a planning application, our analysts review massing models and data reports to identify neighbouring properties that may be affected. We then use land registry information to find the property owners and contact those who may have a claim.
Each claim needs to be assessed individually, as there are a number of complex factors involved. A successful claim is often around £15,000, but a survey of your property is needed before we can provide a more accurate estimate.
Developers often try to settle for minimal compensation if they feel the injured party does not have expert representation. We recommend never signing a settlement agreement without specialist advice.
Your residence does not affect your claim. As long as you are listed as the owner of the affected property, you may still be able to claim for a Right to Light injury.
